There were a few challenges in this project: the project was undertaken out of season so weather conditions were adverse. To create the complex 3-dimensional shape of the batter and tapered walls required by the Architects, intricate timber falsework was built within DOKA shutters.
The Spa Promenade is two zig-zag walls with a shot blasted concrete wall encompassing look-out balconies offering views over the sea and promenade below and the Spa Gardens are made from bands of granite setts and seeded concrete to provide a robust attractive surface, and creating various levels of scale, detail and texture
